Washington Commanders fall to Atlanta Falcons 34-27: Grading each unit
Wide receiver Luke McCaffrey excelled in kick returns, averaging over 35 yards on six attempts, including one that positioned Washington in Falcons’ territory. Conversely, Jaylin Lane struggled, fumbling both of his punt returns, though he retained possession. Lane must improve ball security moving forward.
The Washington Commanders are on the road in Week 4 to face the Atlanta Falcons. Quarterback Jayden Daniels is out with a knee sprain, putting veteran Marcus Mariota back in the starting role for the second week in a row. Mariota will look to keep the momentum and lead the Commanders to another 'w' in the win column.
Washington has had no answer for the Falcons’ offense so far. Bijan Robinson’s 14-yard touchdown run capped Atlanta’s third consecutive scoring drive, a five-play march that featured a 43-yard strike from Michael Penix Jr. to Drake London.
