Ahead of Disney and ABC’s announcement Monday afternoon that Jimmy Kimmel would return to hosting his late night show, Tom Hanks, Meryl Streep, Selena Gomez, Olivia Rodrigo and more than 400 others in the entertainment and media industry signed an open letter from the American Civil Liberties Union protesting the decision to take Kimmel off the air and warning about its potential effects on free speech.
The case, filed in federal court in Massachusetts, alleges that the Trump administration is violating the legal and constitutional rights of non-citizens by denying them access to a bond hearing after being detained.
