Most prognosticators were correct — Aaron Rodgers won't reinvent the wheel with his jersey number choice as the starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers this season. He's going back to his familiar No. 8, a number donned the last two years with the New York Jets.

The deal, which Rodgers signed at Pittsburgh's practice facility on Saturday, is worth up to $19.5 million with incentives.

Rodgers wore No. 12 throughout his entire Green Bay Packers career, but he switched to No. 8, which he wore in college at Cal, when he went to the Jets in 2023. No. 12 was unavailable in New York with that jersey retired in honor of quarterback Joe Namath.
