Death in Paradise 's new lead detective Don Gilet commented on Commissioner Selwyn's (Don Warrington) future on the show after the season 14 debut teased the character's possible exit.

Gilet will take on the role of DI Mervin Wilson in the popular series. In the first trailer for series 14, the actor can be seen investigating a murder as the new detective inspector of Saint Marie.
