House Bill 1484, or the Mississippi Illegal Alien Certified Bounty Hunter Program, was introduced by State Rep. Justin Keen, R-DeSoto County, at the outset of the legislative session.

A Mississippi bill that would have rewarded bounty hunters money to help catch undocumented immigrants has died in the state legislature. Bounty hunters would have received $1,000 to help Immigration and Customs Enforcement in deporting people from Mississippi.

There is no appetite among House Republicans for a bill that would put a bounty on undocumented immigrants, Speaker Jon Patterson said.
