Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the Maryland man who was wrongfully deported in March, alleged in court documents filed Wednesday that he was tortured in an El Salvador prison.

President Nayib Bukele, in a post on the social media platform X, wrote that Kilmar Abrego Garcia "wasn't tortured, nor did he lose weight," during his stint at a notorious El Salvador prison.

According to court documents, Abrego Garcia suffered sleep deprivation, beatings, inadequate nutrition and psychological torment during his stint at the notoriously brutal prison.

He remained at the mega prison for nearly a month before he was transferred to a facility in Santa Ana, El Salvador. During the first two weeks, his lawyers claim Abrego Garcia lost around 31 pounds.
