Sandra “Sandy” Sikorski found a pearl in a plate of clams she was savoring with her fiance Ken Steinkamp at a Westerly restaurant. The couple made it the centerstone of her engagement ring.

Scott Overland was dining out in Rehoboth Beach, Del. when he found a rare purple pearl inside one of the clams he had ordered.

"It has sort of a regal aesthetic to it," said Ken Steinkamp of the engagement ring. He proposed to his partner, Sandy Sikorski, on July 6, 2023.
