A group of Buddhist monks is getting viral attention with their 2,300-mile Walk for Peace from Fort Worth, Texas, to Washington, D.C.

Aloka the Peace Dog, who walked alongside a group of Buddhist monks for peace across the US, underwent surgery for a leg injury on Monday, January 12. Facebook group Walk for Peace shared the update on Aloka’s health online.

The group documents its long journey on Facebook to “raise awareness of peace, loving kindness and compassion across America and the world.”

CHARLESTON, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Buddhist monks’ dog, Aloka the Peace Dog, underwent surgery in Charleston, South Carolina after injuring his leg.
