Israeli airstrikes killed at least 50 people across central and southern Gaza, including an attack on a sprawling tent camp that Israel has repeatedly bombed despite designating it a humanitarian safe zone.

Israeli forces raided the compound on Friday, forcibly evacuating all remaining patients and staff. The Israel Defense Forces said it detained 240 alleged militants, among them hospital director Dr. Hossam Abu Safiya. The IDF said the hospital was a "command center" for Hamas "military operations" in the surrounding area.

At least 70 people have been killed over the past 24 hours after an Israeli strike hit Gaza. Medics say at least 17 of those who died were killed in airstrikes on two houses in Gaza City. Search crews are looking for survivors beneath the rubble after a strike destroyed a building.
