The Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processors are rolling out later in the year, introducing improved performance and better protection against malware.

The new Core Ultra 200HX series will be targeted at gaming laptops and should deliver around 5 percent better single-thread performance and 20 percent multithread performance improvements over previous Raptor Lake-H Refresh processors.

Intel took the opportunity to unveil its next line of laptop processors, dubbed Arrow Lake. The chipmaker focused on energy consumption and performance for these chips, leaving the AI muscle to the existing Core Ultra 200V (Lunar Lake) series.

So far, we’ve seen Intel Core Ultra 200V impress in thin and light laptops like the Asus Zenbook S14. And now at CES 2025, Intel is taking it to the next level with the debut of 200U for budget-end systems, 200HX for bleeding edge gaming systems, and 200H for a nice middle ground.

According to Intel, new gaming CPUs like the Intel Core Ultra 9 285HX and 275HX will offer significantly better gaming performance.

On stage at CES 2025, Intel compared the Core Ultra 9 285HX—essentially the mobile version of the Core Ultra 285K on desktop—against AMD's Ryzen AI 9 HX 375. Intel claims a huge performance advantage in multi-core workloads, which makes sense given that the Core Ultra processor has twice as many CPU cores.
