Russia is demanding the United Nations condemn Kyiv following an alleged drone attack that it claims killed a journalist working for a Russian outlet and injured several others.

Russian state newspaper Izvestia says one of its freelance reporters has been killed in a drone strike near the Russian-occupied city of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine. Moscow has accused Ukraine's military of deliberately targeting Alexander Martemyanov.

Russia’s Izvestia newspaper reported on Jan. 4 that a Ukrainian "kamikaze" drone attack killed one of its freelance reporters, Alexander Martemyanov, while he was traveling on a highway in occupied eastern Ukraine.

A freelance journalist working for Russian state newspaper Izvestia has been killed in a drone strike near the Russian-controlled city of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine, according to the publication. Izvestia claimed that the attack targeted a civilian vehicle on a highway within a Russian-occupied area.

A journalist from the Russian edition Izvestia, propagandist Alexander Martemyanov, was killed in the occupied part of the Donetsk region. The incident occurred when a drone strike hit the car carrying a group of Russian media representatives,

The Russian state-run RIA Novosti news agency has said that a Ukrainian drone hit a car on the Donetsk-Horlivka highway, killing a freelance correspondent for Izvestia, Alexander Martemyanov, and injuring five other representatives of the Russian media.
