Another round of strong storms moved through the Chicago area Wednesday afternoon. There was a Tornado Warning for part of northwest Indiana, which has since expired.

Chicago could see severe storms this afternoon and evening, followed by gusty winds and a cool, unsettled weekend.

Volatile spring weather will kick into high gear this week as a potential severe thunderstorm outbreak and life-threatening flooding loom large for tens of millions of people in the central and eastern United States.

Scattered showers are possible Wednesday morning, but once we hit the afternoon, storms return to the forecast. The window of opportunity for severe storms will be between 1 p.m. and 9 p.m. The main threat for Chicago will be between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Damaging wind gusts, hail and brief isolated tornadoes will be possible.

Tomorrow night we have lows in the upper 40s with partly cloudy skies. There is a chance for rain, mostly south of Chicago on Thursday. Highs on Thursday will be cooler, around 60. Mostly sunny skies Friday with highs in the low to mid 50s.
