Bruins Place Charlie McAvoy On IR, Activate Elias Lindholm
The Boston Bruins made a roster move ahead of their road game against the San Jose Sharks on Sunday. Boston activated forward Elias Lindholm off injured reserve and placed defenseman Charlie McAvoy on injured reserve,
When people think of the current Boston Bruins roster and how they might score goals and get points, they would usually think of David Pastrnak. But as of late,
The Bruins, ravaged by injuries to their lineup regulars, could get a big piece of their lineup back in action before returning to Boston.
Boston was also skating shorthanded. Regular veterans like Charlie McAvoy, Viktor Arvidsson and Elias Lindholm were all sidelined with injury, making room for Providence call-ups Riley Tufte and Matěj Blümel to make their season debut. It takes time, however, for things to seamlessly come together.
Riley Tufte spoiled the shutout with 10 seconds left and Jeremy Swayman made 29 saves for the Bruins, who had a six-game home-winning streak halted and lost for just the second time in 10 games overall. Swayman's personal five-game winning streak was stopped.
Matěj Blümel and Riley Tufte were both on the ice at Warrior Arena for morning skate before the 7 p.m. game at TD Garden. Viktor Arvidsson and Casey Mittelstadt (retroactive to Nov. 6) were both placed on injured reserve. Jordan Harris has been moved from IR to long-term IR.
The Bruins will be without defenseman Charlie McAvoy indefinitely, as McAvoy underwent successful facial surgery earlier this week after taking a slap shot to the face last Saturday at Montreal. Friday will mark McAvoy’s third consecutive game missed. There is no timetable for his return.
