The IDF and Shin Bet Spokesperson announced on Sunday morning that they recovered the body of IDF soldier Oron Shaul, which had been held captive in Gaza since 2014.
Alian served as the chief of the Golani Brigade during the 2014 Operation Protective Edge when Shaul's body was kidnapped.
“The three released hostages are now being escorted by an elite IDF unit and Shin Bet force and are on their way back to Israel, where they will undergo an initial medical evaluation,” the military said.
