DETROIT -- Right-handed reliever Alex Faedo was designated for assignment by the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday. The move created a roster spot for the signing of veteran reliever Tommy Kahnle.
The Tigers signed relief pitcher Kahnle to a one-year deal worth $7.75 million, adding another piece to their bullpen puzzle.
Kahnle, 35, went 0-2 with a 2.11 ERA and one save in 50 relief appearances with the American League champion Yankees last season.
Kahnle, 35, has been a model of consistency the last three seasons, posting 2.44 ERA and a 1.063 WHIP combined with the Dodgers and the Yankees.
