ATLANTA—Pye-Barker Fire & Safety has announced the acquisition of Fire-X Sales and Service Corp. and its sister company Fire Protection Products (FPP), fire suppression experts based in Maryland.

A former firefighter has developed an environmentally friendly aerial suppression system using expanding foam that the company says is far more efficient in putting out fires than other methods.

The owners of the Gabriel House Assisted Living Facility said their sprinklers and fire suppression system were last checked just five days before a tragic blaze trapped and killed 10 people.
