CTA Red Line trains were rerouted to elevated lines between Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown.

The Red Line station at Jackson and State was evacuated Tuesday afternoon due to a mechanical problem, a CTA officials said.

Chicago police said a 37-year-old man was attacked by a group of five or six people on a CTA Red Line train overnight.

According to the CTA, service between the Cermak-Chinatown and 95th-Dan Ryan stops was temporarily suspended shortly after 10:30 a.m. due to police activity.

Police activity on the CTA Red Line as led to trains to be rerouted to the elevated tracks between Fullerton and Cermak/Chinatown.

Monday morning was the first time the CTA Red Line Reconstruction Project put weekday commuters to the test, with all stops closed from Cermak-Chinatown to 95th for the next several months.
