Gale force winds will be accompanied by spells of rain making for unpleasant road conditions. Highest gusts up to 70mph are expected towards Irish Sea coasts with some coastal routes being affected by large waves. Disruption to travel is likely with delays possible and power supplies could also be affected.

In this edition of Weather Tidbits, we’ll be discussing the difference between a Wind Advisory and a High Wind Warning. A Wind Advisory is issued when strong winds are expected to occur but are not so strong as to warrant a High Wind Warning.

A high wind warning was issued by the National Weather Service on Sunday at 3:12 a.m. valid from 1 p.m. until Monday 4 p.m. for Northern Centre and Clearfield County.

The National Weather Service issued a high wind warning at 2:17 p.m. on Saturday valid from Sunday 10 a.m. until Monday 6 p.m. for Monmouth, Salem, Gloucester, Camden, Burlington, Ocean, Cumberland and Atlantic counties.

Our weather may have had more of a feel of spring about it over the last few days, but wind and rain has still featured for some. On Friday, while the likes of Hull, Thetford and Nairn hit 17 Celsius (63F) many western areas were lashed with gales and rain at times.

GMT on Sunday until 15:00. The Met Office issued the warning on Thursday. Large waves may come onshore and rain will accompany the strong winds, which will make for very poor weather conditions, especially on roads.

Strong winds are forecast to batter Lancashire this weekend with the Met Office issuing a yellow weather warning for the region. Gusts of up to 70mph are expected in exposed spots along the Irish Sea coastline and other areas of high ground further inland.
