Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has officially overtaken both of its predecessors at the global box office to become the highest grossing film in the trilogy.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3' leads domestic charts through the holidays as it notches $100 million. 'Mufasa: The Lion King' lags behind.

The Lion King, and Sonic the Hedgehog 3, are continuing to dominate at the global box office well into 2025. The franchise blockbusters have already taken in large sums at the worldwide box office but they have each recently passed new milestones.

This has been a solid holdover box office weekend with milestones crossed and neared for the major titles in release as we come off a strong end to 2024

The South Korean box office witnessed “Harbin” fortify its dominant position during the weekend of January 3-5, 2025, while “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” made a notable ascent into fourth place. According to Kobis,
