Finance secretary Shona Robison has announced she will stand down at the next Holyrood election after 27 years as an MSP. Robison, the MSP for Dundee East, has held several roles in SNP governments including health secretary and social justice secretary.

Finance Secretary Shona Robison will not seek re-election next year, she has announced. Robison is one of the diminishing pool of '99ers – a group of MSPs who were first elected when parliament was reconvened in 1999 and have served continuously ever since.

SHONA Robison is to step down as an MSP at the next Holyrood election. The Dundee City East MSP announced that she will not seek re-election as a candidate ahead of the Scottish Parliamentary election in May 2026.

Robison is the latest senior SNP politician to announce she is standing down. On Monday, veteran nationalist Annabelle Ewing, who is also one of Holyrood’s deputy presiding officers, confirmed she would not run for re-election.
