Cricket fans have voted in favour of Travis Head - not Steve Smith - to take over the Test captaincy if Pat Cummins misses the Sri Lanka tour in January. The Aussies will head to Sri Lanka in the new year for two Test matches on January 29 and February 6.

Channel 7’s weather expert Sonia Marinelli has predicted a “scorching top of 40” for Boxing Day, and Cummins will need to do something he is yet to do so far in this Border-Gavaskar series: win a toss. Cummins may have a glittering record as captain, but when it comes to tosses, it’s a wildly different story.

With the series level at 1-1, both teams will be playing the highly-anticipated Boxing Day Test from December 26 onwards, with an aim to secure an all-important lead and an edge ahead of the final Test at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

Smith, who will bat at No. 4 for the Baggy Greens in the Boxing Day Test, is 191 runs away from becoming the fourth Australian to score 10,000 runs in Test cricket.
