Residents rush to scoop groundnut oil as tanker overturns in Niger
Residents in Bida, Niger State, rushed to collect groundnut oil on Tuesday morning after a tanker overturned near Shafa filling station in Esso area. This is coming just three days after a tragic tanker explosion claimed 98 lives in Suleja Local Government Area.
Residents scoop oil as another tanker falls in Niger
Such incidents are common in Niger State. On 8 September 2024, more than 50 travellers died in a midnight tanker explosion along the Agaie-Badeggi road. In 2022, another petrol-laden tanker exploded at Badeggi village near Bida. Although there were no casualties from the incident, the fire gutted two other vehicles.
