LOS ANGELES (AP) — Luka Doncic has agreed to a three-year, $165 million maximum contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers, bypassing a chance at free agency next summer to build a long-term future with his new team.

The Lakers agreed to a three-year, $165 million extension with their Slovenian supernova on Saturday, per ESPN's Shams Charania. The deal ensures Doncic, 26, will stay around for at least another two seasons, turning the player option Doncic held next summer into ashes.
