In the second inning, the Nationals got a run back on a solo home run by center fielder Dylan Crews that landed just out of Nimmo’s reach in left field. Crews’s home run ended a streak of 14 games in which Mets starting pitchers didn’t surrender a home run.

Down six runs early, the Nationals rallied in dramatic fashion to stun the first-place Mets for an 8-7 victory on Sunday at Nationals Park after a Pete Alonso throwing error at first base.

Francisco Alvarez’s two-run homer was all the Mets needed in a 2-0 win. As often happens, the Nationals struggled to get the ball in the air.
