Former Villanova head coach Jay Wright has been mentioned frequently as a possible candidate for the New York Knicks head coaching job, but that speculation does not appear to be based in reality.

Jay Wright is not a candidate to fill the Knicks’ head coaching vacancy, The Post’s Stefan Bondy reported Saturday. President Leon Rose understands that Wright, who last coached in 2022 at Villanova, is happy in retirement. That leaves one name off the list for the Knicks as they seek to replace Tom Thibodeau after his firing earlier this week.
