Spain is seeking help from its European partners to tackle wildfires raging across the country, Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska said on Wednesday.

General wildfire advice from the FCDO warns that wildfires happen often in Spain and Portugal during the summer months. It says, “wildfires are highly dangerous and unpredictable”, and advises travellers in high-risk areas to follow the advice of local authorities.

Spain is battling a series of devastating wildfires that have killed two people and destroyed thousands of hectares of forest and scrubland. There are currently 14 major active fires, Minister for Ecological Transition Sara Aagesen told radio station Cadena Ser on Wednesday.
