Rain gives way to clearing skies Friday before a weekend storm brings a chance of the season’s first snow and the coldest air so far this fall.

ABC7 meteorologists have issued an AccuWeather Alert for Monday, as the possible snowfall could create dangerous travel conditions during the morning commute.

Chicago anticipates first snow with wintry mix this weekend, including rain turning to snow and potential lake effect snow near the lakeshore.

Following our cold front late this week, Saturday's temperatures will top out around 50 degrees, and we'll be watching for scattered rain showers. There is a chance that we could see rain mixing in with snow as cooler air moves into the region during the day.

By the time everybody wakes up Monday morning, wind chills for the Chicago area will probably be like 10 to 15 degrees above zero,' said a meteorologist.
