A former Boston police officer was indicted in connection with a man who was beaten while intoxicated the night of the St. Patrick's Day parade in March.

Cunnif, 59, retired from the department after learning he was under investigation by the DA’s office and the BPD Anti-Corruption division, the DA’s office said.

A police spokesperson said Tuesday that the officer “was struck by the vehicle” about 2 p.m. in the area of Hamilton Place and Tremont Street, and that the driver was later apprehended on Albany Street.
