In an interview with Hindustan Times, Manoj Tiwary said Gautam Gambhir will not be able to drop either Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli.

"Yes, there will be a review meeting but no firing. C'mon, you can't sack a coach for the batters' poor show in one series. Gautam Gambhir will remain the coach, and Virat and Rohit will feature in the England series. The focus is Champions Trophy," BCCI sources told IANS on Tuesday.

In nine innings of the five Test matches, Virat Kohli managed only 190 runs. The only big run that came from his bat was in the second innings of the first Test at Perth, where he remained unbeaten on 100. In the next seven innings, his highest score was 36.

Virat Kohli last played a Ranji Trophy match in 2012 while Rohit Sharma's most recent domestic red-ball game was in the 2015-16 season.

The recent report has raised questions about Gambhir's job security and the possibility of Rohit and Kohli touring England.
