Ryder Cup organisers have been forced to alter their timetable, with the opening ceremony now taking place a full day earlier than planned. The curtain-raiser for the 45th edition of the famous tournament was originally scheduled for Thursday afternoon at 4pm.

Opening ceremonies at the Ryder Cup are usually accompanied by the announcements of the Friday foursomes, but not this year. These, however, were the groupings for Wednesday’s practice, which may be the last chance the players get to play the course before Friday, given the forecast for Thursday.

The only Team Europe win came from Teemu Selanne and Jose Andres, who edged John McEnroe and Bobby Flay, 6-5. The final score: Team USA 25, Team Europe 19. The United States will be hoping they can carry that momentum into the action that starts Friday. There's a Ryder Cup to win back.
