Netflix launched production on Building the Band, an upcoming competition series that assembles a new band without the members meeting until it was time to hit the stage. The streaming service recruited a slate of judges including Destiny's Child's Kelly Rowland,

Netflix are reportedly moving ahead with their Building the Band reality series following the recent passing of judge Liam Payne. News of Building the Band first broke in August 2024, with Netflix revealing they had recruited Payne as a judge for the show alongside the Pussycat Dolls' Nicole Scherzinger and Destiny's Child's Kelly Rowland.

Building the Band follows judges Liam, Nicole Scherzinger (The Pussycat Dolls) and Kelly Rowland (Destiny’s Child) as they scout members for the next up and coming boy band. Backstreet Boys’ AJ McLean also features as the show’s host.
