When UConn hit the court in its NCAA Tournament opener, there were times when the game resembled a track meet instead of a basketball contest. Jana El Alfy had the first of UConn’s NCAA Tournament program record 13 blocked shots just 44 seconds into the game.

In its first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history, Arkansas State got a firsthand glimpse into what the hierarchy of women’s college basketball looks like.

Outlook: This is a different UConn team with Fudd playing like Fudd. Freshman Sarah Strong also has a full season under her belt. UConn has a Final-Four-or-bust mentality, and rightfully so. UConn should be considered a heavy favorite to make it to the national championship.
