The seven colors of a rainbow go from red at the top, then orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet is always at the bottom. When there is a double rainbow, the color order is reversed.

The colors of the rainbow are not visible unless the light is bent or refracted. A prism can be used to refract light and reveal the colors of the various wavelengths in white light.

In a rainbow, the colors occur in a specific order: Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, (indigo), violet. The painted crossing has the red on the wrong side, so it CANNOT be a rainbow.
