The price of a Mega Millions ticket is going up from $2 to $5 beginning April 5, the second increase in the lottery’s 28-year history since its debut as The Big Game in 1996.
The Arizona Lottery offers multiple draw games for those aiming to win big. Arizona offers Powerball, Mega Millions, The Pick, Triple Twist, Fantasy 5 and Pick 3 as well as Scratchers, Quick Draw and Fast Play.
The next draw is set for Saturday night, where a ticket buyer will need to overcome astronomical odds of 1-in-292.2 million to win the big prize.
The Powerball jackpot rose to $484 million ahead of Wednesday night's drawing, just one day after someone scored big and won $344 million in the Mega Millions game.
Mega Millions will raise ticket prices from $2 to $5, a move the lottery said will help raise the average jackpot win from about $450 million to more than $800 million, while also allowing the jackpot to reset to $50 million instead of $20 million after a winning ticket is sold.
Mega Millions will roll out several changes next month, including new ticket prices, jackpots and an increase in the odds of winning, the game announced.
Mega Millions draws on Tuesdays and Fridays at 11 p.m. The odds of winning the jackpot with a $2 ticket are 1-in-302,575,350. The official Ohio Lottery site offers more information on instant tickets, raffles & other lottery games.
