After spending more than a month in the hospital, Pope Francis has overcome a life-threatening case of double pneumonia, clearing the way for his release on Sunday.

The 88-year-old pontiff will require at least two months of rest, rehabilitation and convalescence at the Vatican He has been hospitalized since Feb. 14 for a severe case of pneumonia in both lungs. Doctors say he should be able to resume normal activities.

Pope Francis will be discharged on Sunday from the hospital where he has spent more than a month being treated for double pneumonia, Sergio Alfieri, the head of the team taking care of the pontiff, announced, CNN reported. "Today we are happy to say that tomorrow he will be at home," he said, as per CNN.
