The Oklahoma Sooners notched a big win last week, defeating the Tennessee Volunteers in Neyland Stadium at night by a score of 33-27. The six-point victory elevated OU to a 7-2 record overall and a 3-2 mark in the SEC, both improvements over last year.

Oklahoma owns four Top 25 victories and its only losses are to Ole Miss, a playoff team, and the Texas Longhorns, a top-20 team. Alabama has a clear path to 10-2 as well with its only tough test coming in the Iron Bowl against the Auburn Tigers.

Taylor Wein is a guy who has really stepped up opposite Thomas and has been dominant this season. And behind Thomas, they have guys like PJ Adebawore, Danny Okoye, and Marvin Jones Jr. That's got to be the best edge rusher group in the entire country, top to bottom, and one of the many examples this year that the Sooners are more prepared.

CFP selection committee chair Mack Rhoades said Tuesday the group has considered OU QB John Mateer’s injury in their rankings.
