Pete Medhurst, widely referred to has the 'Voice of Navy Athletics,' passed away on Jan. 20 after an ongoing battle with cancer. Following his shocking diagnosis last year, he underwent a surgery to remove a cancerous brain tumor.

Pete Medhurst, who was the voice of Navy football for the past 12 years and Navy lacrosse for 24 years, died at age 55.

Medhurst was the voice of Navy football for the past 12 years and had been with the Navy Radio Network since 1997 broadcasting football, basketball, lacrosse, baseball, volleyball, swimming and wrestling.

The longtime radio voice lost his brief battle with cancer. He had broadcast 240 consecutive Midshipmen football games until November.

Pete Medhurst, longtime voice of the Navy Midshipmen on the Navy Radio Network and WBAL Radio and one of the best radio play-by-play announcers in all of sports, died Monday night after a brave and inspirational battle against brain cancer.
