Attorney General Pam Bondi on Tuesday said the Justice Department would seek the death penalty against Luigi Mangione for the December killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

US federal prosecutors will seek the death penalty for Luigi M. This comes after President Donald Trump signed an executive order in January that compels the department to seek the death penalty where applicable.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi said she directed prosecutors to seek the death penalty against the alleged killer of  Brian Thompson, following Trump’s campaign promise to vigorously pursue capital punishment.
