China and India should maintain the momentum of high-level exchanges, China's Vice President Han Zheng told India's National Security Advisor Adjit Doval in Beijing on Wednesday, state media Xinhua reported.

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with Indian National Security Adviser Shri Ajit Doval in Beijing on Wednesday, according to Chinese state media. Han said both sides should cultivate political mutual trust and gradually resume dialogue and cooperation in areas including economy and trade as well as culture,

China and India agreed on Wednesday to work on easing their long-running border dispute, as the two Asian giants resumed a formal high-level dialogue for the first time in five years.

The meeting is part of a diplomatic mechanism that was halted after deadly clashes broke out along the Himalayan frontier five years ago.
