The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation on Thursday announced changes to commercial driver's license, or CDL, skills tests in the state.

To get more bus drivers behind the wheel, the state is now waiving the under-the-hood portion of the CDL test.

The Pennsylvania School Bus Association says the need for school bus drivers has been building since before the pandemic.

From here, you may have to complete an entry-level driving training course before tackling the CDL skills test or hazardous materials endorsement written test.

To help lessen testing delays associated with obtaining a commercial driver's license, the FMCSA will soon allow third-party examiners to test students.
