It’s been roughly five months since discount retailer Big Lots filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. In that time, the company has closed more than 500 stores, cutting its footprint down to less than 900 stores as of February 2025.

Several Ohio stores are among some 200 Big Lots stores could remain open, per a bankruptcy court filing. Here's the latest on the Columbus-based retailer.

Monday's court filing lists Big Lots locations in 15 states with the most stores in North Carolina (46), Ohio (27), Pennsylvania (22), South Carolina (17), Virginia (17), Tennessee (14), Georgia (13), Florida (12), Kentucky (10), West Virginia (7), Alabama (6), Michigan (5), Mississippi (2), Indiana (1) and Louisiana (1).
