Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said he discussed the restoration of statehood for J&K during a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi.

The Omar government had in its first cabinet meeting in October passed a resolution calling for restoration of statehood in its original form

Meeting Shah for the second time after taking over as the chief minister of the Union territory on October 16, Abdullah said the talks took place in a“cordial manner”.“We hope to always work in a better environment so that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are benefited from this,” he added.

This was Omar Abdullah's second meeting with Amit Shah since assuming office as the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir following his party's resounding victory in the October elections.
