Former MLB first-round pick Bubba Thompson is leaving the diamond to try out college football at the age of 26.

Former MLB outfielder Bubba Thompson is enrolling at the University of South Alabama, reports Creg Stephenson of AL.com. He is joining the Jaguars football team as a walk-on, Stephenson writes.

Mobile-native and former first round MLB draft pick Bubba Thompson is set to play football at South Alabama. Thompson, a 2017 graduate of McGill-Toolen Catholic, was a highly touted high school prospect in both football and baseball.

Thompson, known as a speed demon during his time in baseball, will attempt to walk on with the South Alabama football team.
