FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WBOY) — West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey is expected to give updates on flooding response in Fairmont on Monday. Multiple roads in Marion County were under water on Sunday, and an apartment complex partially collapsed due to high water.
Gov. Patrick Morrisey traveled to another West Virginia county under a state of emergency Monday after weekend storms dumped record-breaking rain, causing severe flash flooding and resulting in at least six deaths.
An average of more than 100 people are killed by flooding in the U.S. annually and many of those happen in vehicles.
