Stephen Curry and the Warriors expect Jonathan Kuminga to be locked in and ready to work once his contract situation is figured out.

The front office confirmed commitments for Gary Payton II and De’Anthony Melton and has been tied to a multiyear agreement with veteran center Al Horford, plus rookie contracts for second-rounders Will Richard and a two-way for Alex Toohey; all moves that overlap the Kuminga timeline.

Kuminga’s playing time and efficiency took a slight hit in the 2024-25 campaign, and he missed over two months due to a sprained right ankle. Over 47 regular-season appearances, he averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists while shooting 45.4 percent from the floor in 24.3 minutes per game.

Kuminga is reportedly seeking a deal that has a player option on the final year. The Warriors, on the other hand, would prefer a team option, and that appears to be the sticking point with both sides. Kuminga has until October 1 to either sign one of the contracts Golden State has offered or to sign his qualifying offer.
