T-Mobile and Starlink launch beta program for satellite connectivity
T-Mobile is starting to roll out Starlink access for satellite connectivity in dead zones. On Monday, the telecom company shared that it has opened registration for a Starlink beta program. All T-Mobile customers can register to join the beta program and test out the satellite messaging feature.
T-Mobile users can try Starlink-enabled phone service for free during beta
T-Mobile said the Starlink-enabled service will be "much more user friendly" than previous satellite phone services. The carrier said "users will not need to hold their phone up to search for a signal. Both inbound and outbound messages are sent and received just like any other message."

In December, SpaceX's Falcon 9 launch sent 20 satellites into orbit to support this venture between T-Mobile and Starlink. More importantly, Starlink states its new communication service is open for more than just consumers as it extends a hand to "any" telecom company.

At launch -- projected for early 2025 -- Starlink will support only texting, but T-Mobile shares that the service eventually will be expanding to data and voice. The free beta will provide users with high-speed internet connectivity in challenging-to-access places such as rural locations, concerts, and even airplanes.
