South Oak Cliff’s hopes of a state championship slipped away in the final seconds of the Class 5A Division II title game against Richmond Randle. With the clock winding down and no timeouts, the Dallas ISD team scrambled to line up for a 45-yard field goal that would have forced overtime.

ARLINGTON, Texas — South Oak Cliff fell to the Randle Lions 38-35 in the UIL 5A Division II State Championship game Friday evening at AT&T Stadium.

Richmond Randle defeated South Oak Cliff 38-35 at AT&T Stadium on Friday. Randle returned two kickoffs for touchdowns during the game. South Oak Cliff battled back, but missed a potential game-tying field goal in the closing seconds.

Friday will end with an intriguing clash between South Oak Cliff and Richmond Randle. By now, 5A Division II is familiar with South Oak Cliff. The Golden Bears are making their fourth-straight state title game appearance.
