The lead was double figures by the midpoint of the second half and UTEP kept Sam Houston at arm's length the rest of the way. When the game was being decided, the Miners flirted with shooting 60% and were actually outrebounding the Bearkats until giving up a flurry of Sam Houston boards down the stretch.
