Containment has inched upward on L.A.’s two largest wildfires as the region braces for more high winds and dry conditions throughout the day. The National Weather Service issued a rare warning that dry winds combined with severely dry conditions created a "particularly dangerous situation” for parts of L.

Mandatory evacuations for more than 100,000 people remain in place for the wildfires, which started Jan. 7 amid a powerful windstorm that forecasters warned would be the worst the region has seen in more than a decade.
