Nick Saban on Mike Gundy's firing: 'Some have a tougher time embracing the idea of paying players'
Saban, who retired in January 2024, previously denied that NIL and paying players was the primary reason for his retirement at Alabama, but former Crimson Tide standout Kool-Aid McKinstry said the idea never sat well with Saban.
Nick Saban revealed that Mike Gundy was canned at Oklahoma State for having the same views on NIL that led him to retire from Alabama.

Nick Saban hasn't watched the Lane Kiffin documentary, Saban told @PatMcAfeeShow. "I didn’t watch the documentary because I lived it for three years,” Saban quipped. “That was good enough for me.”
